|Mozart||Violin Sonata No 25 in F|
|Brahms||Violin Sonata No 1 in G|
A committed chamber musician, Savitri Grier graduated from Christ Church, Oxford with a first class honours in Music and is now studying a Masters at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. In 2015 she was selected for representation by the Young Classical Artists Trust.
Savitri is joined in this recital by pianist Richard Uttley, who has played in the UK’s major halls and is frequently broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Today’s programme opens with Mozart’s Sonata No 25 in F which was originally written for the flute and keyboard but later transcribed most beautifully for the violin and is well-suited to this guise. This is followed by quintessential Brahms, with a work of rhythmic configuration and pattern that echoes rain and childhood dreams, a sombre funeral march and, finally, the suggestion of hopefulness and tender reminiscence.
