The Royal Academy Cello Ensemble was formed in 2012 by internationally renowned soloists and Academy professors Josephine Knight and Felix Schmidt, and both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Academy.
This programme of music for the rare combination of eight cellos includes the most famous piece in the genre, Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos’ homage to his idol J.S. Bach, arrangements of Samuel Barber’s heart-rending Adagio, Ravel’s Bolero, and the theme music of Casino Royale, all ending on a lighter note with Strauss’ Jellacic March.
