Saturday 7th May, Corn Exchange, Newbury RG14 5BD
7.30pm (ends approx 9.30pm)
Celebrated singer Clare Teal and her trio bring a spectacular opening night to the Corn Exchange for the 2016 Festival.
A prolific recording artist, Clare has twice been named British Jazz Singer of the Year, and is also a respected broadcaster, presenting her own show on BBC Radio 2. Her amazing voice, encyclopedic knowledge of jazz, swing and big band music, plus her innate warmth and entertaining wit, make her one of the most sought-after performers in the world.
With a love of the Great American Songbook, tonight Clare sings the music of her heroines, including Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland and Doris Day, and tells outrageous anecdotes of their extraordinary lives. Along with original work and modern-day covers, this evening of ‘feel good’ music is inspired by the greats and performed by the best.
"Clare’s singing is as infectiously happy and full of warmth as she is, and she is a consummate professional." Gloucestershire Ech
