Britain's leading international concert pianist makes a welcome return to Newbury Spring Festival for the third time.
A true polymath and renaissance man, Stephen Hough is one of the most distinctive artists of his generation, combining a distinguished career as a pianist with those of composer, painter and writer. His extensive discography has garnered international awards, and he is the first classical musician to be awarded the prestigious MacArthur Foundation Fellowship.
In this performance he seeks contrast, even opposition, in selected works from three of the most distinctive composers for the piano: Debussy, Schumann and Beethoven.
